In it for the Long Hall
Every now and then I feel the need to blog, journal, reflect…call it what you may for myself instead of about a client. Today is one of those days. Last night I had a session at the Rose Garden. Well it is safe to say that the roses were not the only thing in full bloom. SO WERE THE PHOTOGRAPHERS. In my 60 minutes at the park, I spotted three other photographers…each doing their own thing…running their show the best they know how. This got me thinking….thinking about just how many people are diving into the world of photography. Many as a hobby…and more and more as a desired career. To each their own, I encourage anyone with the dream of becoming a full-time photographer to go for it….but it also forces me to take a step back and ask myself, “what will set me apart? how do I make sure I plan right, ask the right questions, buy the right equipment, PROVE TO MYSELF AND OTHERS that I am in it for the long run? how do I ensure my clients not only respect and honor my work, but me as an individual and professional? I have concluded MY answer to these questions can be summed up in two words…HEART AND DETERMINATION. So I am here today to tell myself, to tell my clients, and to tell the photography industry, that I am here to stay! I am in this for the long hall. Someday I will be THAT photographer that everyone follows…and wonders what it must be like…..keep living your dreams, keep pursuing your passions. Our SOME DAY will be here before we know it!
