Gauntlets, Shakos, Plumes, & Leadership

Gauntlets : wrist and lower-arm covering; part of Marching Band/Guard uniform

Shako:  a tall, cylindrical military cap, usually with a visor, and sometimes tapered at the top. It is usually adorned with some kind of ornamental plate or badge on the front, metallic or otherwise, and often has a feather [plume] attached

Folks.....It’s time for marching band 101.

DID YOU KNOW that hand placement during a salute is oh so very important in the sport of marching band?

I had so much fun photographing Amy with her “accessories”. I love finding that one thing….that thing that makes the Senior just shine…being completely in their element.

Amy’s moment was when the gauntlets and shako came out. What a beautiful kind of pride this young woman has.

Amy…I can’t wait to see where this next step in life takes you. You are a beautiful woman and a strong leader. Thank you for allowing me to photograph the beautiful pride you have.

With love-
